  23. It is NOT free, but is cheap.  I would not recommend using the trial 
  24. version, the vbox
  25. encryption is onerous, getting it completely removed is a pain.

  27. It will not run as a windows service to the best of my knowledge, but is 
  28. easily set up in a host mode.

  30. I would recommend an autologon enable for this situation, and a startup 
  31. script that invokes kermit w/ the
  32. desired parameters automatically. It is a simple matter to write a watchdog 
  33. application that restarts kermit
  34. in the unlikely event of failure.

  37. quite acceptable performance.
